As everyone know, new construction has really slowed down. Local home builders in Hernando County, Florida, are asking the County Commission for some assistance so they can get going again. Impact fees are about $9,200 for a home and the builders are asking the County to put a one year moratorium on impact fees and a 50% reduction in the next year.

I feel the County needs to look at this seriously because if our builders close down, so do our jobs. They are having a hearing this week, and I hope the County keeps an open mind. Impact fees are for new roads, schoos, etc., which are also important but we need to spur the building industry.
