Located in the southern portion of Anna Marie Island, lies the City of Bradenton Beach. The City was named after Dr. Joseph Braden, one of the two brothers that came to Bradenton, Florida in 1842 and major landowners at the time. In the northern part of Anna Marie Island lies the City of Anna Marie, known to be the residential part of the Island. Located in the center of the Island is the City of Holmes Beach, the commercial hub of the Island. Bradenton Beach lies on the southern tip of Anna Marie Island and is known to attract the tourists to this incredibly diverse Island. Bradenton Beach is the newest of the communities on Anne Marie Island, incorporated as late as 1953. Along the western edge of the city of Bradenton Beach, are the remnants of the first wooden bridge that once connected the island to the main lands of Florida in 1921. The remnants of this bridge have been restored and now serve as the Bradenton Beach Fishing Pier, providing some of the best fishing on the island. Considered the home to over 1,500 full time residents, Bradenton Beach, Florida also serves as a winter home to many more. 96 acres of public recreation area known as Coquina Beach is one of the main attractions to the city. Providing many opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing and jet skiing, Coquina Beach enables tourists to see what living on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida is all about! The many waterfront dining opportunities or fishing off the Bradenton Beach Fishing Pier for your own supper are a few of the welcoming aspects of the this quaint little community.
