Almost in the middle of where Florida's peninsula is thinnest there is what is called “lake country”, of which Lake County takes up a good portion. At the western end of Lake Griffin, almost one hour from Orlando, is the town of Fruitland Park. This town takes great pride in that they make the town easy for pedestrians and bikers to traverse. Think of this as a place where you have to option to get to the tourist areas to the southeast when you want, but you keep asking yourself why you should leave town at all.
