The Mayport Naval Station is home to 21 ships, including frigates, cruisers and destroyers. Six US Navy helicopter squadrons also call Mayport home. In October of 2009 the administration approved funding for the expansion and dredging of the harbor so that the station could accommodate the larger nuclear powered carriers that are now the only commissioned carriers for the US Navy.
Naval personnel stationed here have the option of using base accommodations or any number of affordable local options. The residents here know how to make our seafaring apes feel welcome.
