Cities in Jefferson County FL
Since the county was named after Thomas Jefferson, the folks here thought it would just make sense to name the county seat, which is also the most centrally located town, after the third US president's estate in Virginia. The current population of 2,500 people still have a deep respect for their history and the town has many homes and buildings that date to the Civil War. Rather than tear them down and build more modern homes, people here usually choose to renovate and restore these treasures of American history.
Monticello is roughly 25 miles east of Tallahassee and best reached by taking Florida route 10 as apposed to I-10. The smaller road will actually save you a little time and the view is generally better. Do you have something to add about this City?
