Palmetto, Florida has a history that begins in 1866 upon the arrival of Samuel Sparks Lamb. Lamb purchased a considerable amount of acreage in the Palmetto area and named the settlement in honor his home state of North Carolina, The Palmetto State. It was the Manatee River that drove the first settlers, including Lamb, to this area; however, it was the beauty and perfect year round climate that kept them here. In 1897 the rapid growing community of Palmetto, Florida was incorporated into a city and five years later the railroad came to town! Quickly becoming the center of activity, the new railroad provided many opportunities for growth, and grow it did! The Father of Palmetto, Samuel Sparks Lamb passed away in 1910 but left behind in incredible community for the future.

Palmetto, Florida is now the home to over 12,000 residents. There are many different events and festivals that take place in Palmetto throughout the year; the Tomato Festival, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Multi-Cultural Festival and on Independence Day, Palmetto celebrates with live entertainment, vendors and a fireworks display that showers freedom over the Manatee River. Palmetto Historical Park, located at the site of the first post office, serves as a reminder of the rich history that this city strives to preserve. The Manatee River provides multitudes of water recreation, including fishing, boating, paddling and swimming. The river serves as a great way to spend a hot sunny Florida day!

With streets lined in Palm trees and moss draped century old oaks, Palmetto, Florida maintains the Old Florida charm that so many cities have strived to maintain. This city provides a laid-back atmosphere while maintaining the continual growth of the area. As many new businesses have discovered the opportunities in Palmetto, the city is growing at a rapid rate, all the while maintaining the many historical buildings that have been so delicately listed on the National Register. Relocating to Palmetto, Florida provides many opportunities for commercial growth while preserving the sleepy southern charm!
