Cities in Broward County FL
Have you seen “Something About Mary”? Great movie. What’s even better is that the scenes featuring Mary’s childhood were filmed in and around Plantation. Even if you don’t like the movie, turn off the sound and watch it for the scenery! And this is not the only movie to take advantage of Plantation’s backdrop. Probably not surprising since the city motto is “The Grass is Greener”. What was the other film? Caddyshack – the one with that cool gopher and what’s-his-ape… Oh yeah, Bill Murray. The famous pool scene was done at the Plantation Golf Course.
Besides the attraction the city has for filmmakers, it is also home to over 85,000 green-grass apes. In 2008 it was in the top 100 Best Communities for young people by America's Promise, so there is a lot more going on here than just rolling cameras.
You are no more than 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale’s world famous beaches, and 30 minutes from Miami with all of its activity. If you add five minutes more, you can be at Miami International Airport. So whether you’re coming or going, there’s no pressure, no worries, and smile – you might be in the movies!
