For apes who prefer the trees to beaches, this is definitely a place to go house hunting. There are numerous properties available, with plenty of greenery to keep you happy along with the 8,000+ other hairy apes in the region. The key highlight of Point Washington is the State Forest, which is run using ecosystem management to maintain biodiversity. The forest has become home to 10 natural communities that include cypress swamps and sandhills. Within these communities various endangered animals live safely including the gopher tortoise. Nonetheless there are plenty of spaces here where you can hunt, hike or go off-road biking. In fact, bikers and hikers have their options of a 3.5, 5, or 10 mile trails.
