Cities in Charlotte County FL

Originally called Carlos Bay by the Spanish explorers who came here in the mid 1500s. Then in the late 1700s the name changed to Charlotte Harbor to honor the wife of King George III (Queen Charlotte Sophia). Today, the Charlotte part of the name remains thanks to the county in which this port resides, and what an amazing view it offers.

Apes will find that the Peace River is simply breathtaking. Perhaps this is why over 46,000 water-loving apes make their home here. In fact, Port Charlotte is the most populated spot in all of Charlotte County.
