Raiford, Florida, serves as a small rural town in the northern part of Union County. Named in honor of Hunter Warren Raiford, a business man and early settler of the town, Raiford was incorporated twice, the last time being in 1971.
Raiford reigned in lumber production and navel stores operations once the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad was completed in 1899, enhancing transportation and growth opportunities. In 1913 the state prison farm was established near Raiford providing economic growth stimulation.
Raiford remains a small rural community with a population of nearly 100 only 10 years ago. Opportunities to purchase acreage and farmland are abound in Raiford.
