Originally part of the Rotonda development community, this is one segment of that larger community. Rotonda West is one eight within that development with each section defined by a canal, and it’s well able to handle more development. In fact, since 2005 this is one of the places considered “hot” for building in Florida. And if apes in Florida say something is hot, the smart-minded house hunter ape listens.

There is another great feature here. The Florida wildlife still considers this their home, thanks in part to the protected wetlands to the south. The abundance of birds in particular gives the sharp eyed ape a chance to see what is rare in the rest of the country, our nation’s symbolic bird – the Bald Eagle. But, with all that wild life, those apes with small pets might want to keep a close eye on them. Alligators were here first, and will be quiet happy to remind you of that with a toothy grin.

But there is good news. With typical Florida response to adverse weather, all the power, gas, phone and cable lines are protected underground. Hurricanes do strike, but their damage is limited by adherence to building codes and preparation. While other areas suffered more damage form Hurricane Charley in 2004, for example, Rotonda managed to list mostly minor damage to screened in porches and pool cages, which were easily repaired and had life back to normal in record time.
