Cities in Broward County FL
The City of Tamarac in Broward County Florida has committed itself to creating a thriving economy, providing excellent customer service, honoring the public trust through integrity, and to keeping its neighborhoods safe. You’ll find Tamarac just 13 miles to the northwest of Fort Lauderdale. You’re also only 40 miles from Miami here. To the direct north you’ll find Sunrise, and to the south – Lauderhill, both of which can be reached by the Sawgrass expressway or I-95.
Tamarac began in 1963 thanks to a developer by the name of Ken Behring. Mr. Behring built up the region initially as a retirement community. And while Tamarac still attracts retiring apes, it also is getting a lot of attention from young families, in part because of its parks, walking trails, playground and sports complex. For the thespian ape, there’s also the Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts that’s been providing entertainment for over two decades.
Last but not least – for all you green apes, Tamarac was the first city in Broward county to be certified as a Florida Green Local Government. It takes a full year to earn this certification by illustrating a commitment to environmental initiatives. The current population is approximately 60,000.
