Cities in Hernando County FL

OK, so the official census puts the town’s population at 12. Yes, you read that right. A dozen. But that isn’t the coolest thing about this town wrapped around a theme park. The coolest thing is that they don’t count one segment of the population, so it’s kind of a public secret. They have mermaids at Weeki Wachee.

Actually, the mermaids are some great ladies and a couple of guys who perform as part of the attractions at the state park. It is the only spring fed water park in the state and well worth the visit. We don’t know what the housing prices are like, but we bet you could get a good deal if you bring your bathing cap and that big flotation ring of yours with the duck on the front. Who knows, maybe you can be the first mer-ape in captivity!
