Cities in Washington County FL
Washington County in Florida spans over 390,000 acres and is considered a “rural” county. Based in Northwest Florida, you’re about 50miles away from Panama City (and the County Airport) smack dab in the middle of Tallahassee and Pensacola. Apes traveling here to look around should use US 90, I-10 or State roads 20, 79, and 77.
For the most part Washington County is pretty uninhabited with most of the 21,000 apes settling around the county’s lakes. The weather here is comfortable, averaging over 65 degrees except for summer months. For family-oriented apes Washington County offers small town appeal. Founded in 1825, the county has been mainly agricultural with cotton as a key crop initially. Later, raising cattle became more of a staple, followed by lumbering thanks to the numerous pines throughout the region.
If you’re a hiking ape, there are many places in Washington County to enjoy both woods and springs including Falling Waters State park (which has the tallest waterfall in Florida). There are also some great caving sites and historical spaces such as the location of the Second Seminole War. And for our ghost hunting ape? You’ll hear plenty of tall tales about Lime Sink and Boynton Island. BOO! Do you have something to add about this County?
